Feature 01

YIN-Based Monophonic Pitch Detection

We use the classic YIN algorithm — gold-standard for single-voice pitch detection in vocal coaching and tuning apps — with cumulative mean normalised difference and parabolic interpolation for accuracy down to a few cents.

Feature 02

Per-Note Timeline With Timing And MIDI Numbers

Every detected note is shown with its start and end time, name (e.g. A4), MIDI number (e.g. 69), and tuning deviation in cents — so you can spot held notes, runs, and ornaments at a glance.

Feature 03

Great For Singers, Whistlers, And Soloists

The Music Note Finder is tuned for single-voice sources: vocals, humming, whistling, solo flute / violin / sax, guitar solos, and melodic synth lines. Chords and dense mixes will just pick the strongest voice in each frame.

Export A MIDI File Of Your Transcription

One click exports every detected note as a Standard MIDI File. Open it in your DAW, quantise, re-voice, or feed it into an AI composer for accompaniment.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about this tool.

Single-voice, in-tune sources: a cappella vocals, humming, whistling, solo flute / violin / sax / clarinet, monophonic guitar or synth leads. Polyphonic audio (chords, full mixes) will pick the most prominent frequency in each window and is less reliable.

Not for chords — the Music Note Finder is a monophonic transcriber. If you need chord-aware transcription, combine the notes output with our Audio Key Finder to derive a basic chord outline.

YIN with parabolic interpolation typically resolves pitch to within ±5 cents on clean recordings. Noisy, reverberant, or multi-voice recordings will be less accurate; try trimming silence and isolating the lead voice when possible.
